In March of 2020, the pandemic put more than half the world’s workforce at home in sweatpants and shorts for the better part of two years.  But in 2023 that time is over. 

While the world has seen a shift towards casual wear in the last decade, we’re at a moment in time where men are actually taking the time and putting effort into their looks.  While that may lead you to think that suits and sportcoats are relics of the past,  they are more popular than ever,  just through a modern perspective. 

Tailoring overall has become more relaxed, unstructured  and Italian inspired.  Which in summary means no padding and no canvas.  In layman’s terms, it means your suits and sportcoats got a lot more comfortable.  With these soft flexible garments, guys in 2023 don’t mind and actually are excited to wear a jacket to work or relaxation.   

Which is why at Adams, we’re leaning heavily into these looks but done our way.  We believe in the timelessness of a garment that is well made and will last you for years,  while still looking modern. 

Suiting

• Lightened Up- Suits are overall lightening up, in both construction and color.  Lightly canvased garments in lighter shades of blues, grays and earth tones are prevalent
• Classic but modern- cut in a classic timeless style, the suit in 2023 should look great now and for decades to come

Sportcoats

• Plaid is still going strong in 2023 and for spring we’re seeing lighter and bigger patterns
• Lighter blues and grays are a classic but shades of green and berry red are the seasons most popular colors

Pants

• Two Words: Five Pockets
• Five Pocket pants are the king of pants in 2023
• Shades of navy and mid gray are the first two pairs you should get
• Then lighten it up with shades of tan and pearl gray, you’ll be surprised how much they go with

Shirts and Knits

• Shirts with small indiscrete patterns with a white ground are perfect on their own or layered underneath a shirt or sport jacket
• Polos and knits in pastel shades of baby blue, sage green, lavender and pink are a way to add some seasonal pop to your outfit without looking like you’re at an Easter parade

• We’re seeing these perfectly balanced sharp casual outfits that are perfect anywhere, any time
• A sportcoat, combined with a dressy pair of jeans or Five-Pockets is a perfect high/low combo that is as modern as it is versatile
